Opened in October 2008 the Mawson family have put heart and soul' into Bailey Ground Hotel refurbishing and re-invigorating it from top to bottom to ensure offering excellent accommodation and facilities for all guests. The Mawson family also have a farm which traditionally produces dairy products for the area so you can be certain that only the freshest highest quality produce is used in the hotel's coffee shop and restaurant. The hotel is one mile south of Sellafield and so is ideally placed to avoid morning and evening traffic to the plant.Bedrooms have recently been refurbished offering tasteful and stylish accommodation including all modern facilities guests would expect. The hotel places their emphasis on traditional home comforts in a relaxed and friendly environment providing the ideal place for a relaxing getaway.The restaurant is the ideal place to enjoy a delicious freshly cooked meal guests can sit back and soak up the ambient surroundings and wonderful view out to the Irish Sea. All produce is sourced as locally as possible using the best quality ingredients with milk cream butter and clotted cream from the Bailey Ground Dairy. There is also an extensive wine list to compliment any meal. Please note guests wishing to dine in the hotel on a Friday Saturday or Sunday will need to book a table in advance of arrival.The Ice Cream Parlour and Coffee Shop offer the perfect place to indulge in a treat. The ice cream is hand made using milk and cream from their own cows which guests can see grazing in the fields around Seascale. There are 12 flavours which will change daily depending on the best seasonal produce available. Guests can enjoy delicious ice creams such as banana split Peach Melba strawberry and chocolate sundae and the famous Bailey Ground Knickerbocker Glory. The Coffee Shop menu offers freshly prepared food such as scones toasted tea cakes sandwiches and Panini's. Also a large selection of desserts tray bakes and fresh cream cakes.Seascale is a quaint coastal town in the Western Lake District it is the perfect base for exploring this beautiful part of the Lake District. Stunning views and some of England's finest scenery provide a backdrop to the wide choice of attractions and things to do in the Lake District. There are plenty of outdoor activities on offer from walking and cycling to rock climbing to abseiling. If you prefer an amble around the shops and art galleries there is plenty to keep you entertained with art exhibitions on throughout the year. From the North: Head south-east on the M6 at junction 43 take the A69 exit to CarlisleHexhamNewcastle. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto Warwick RoadA69 heading to Carlisle. Turn right at Victoria PlaceA69 hen right at Georgian WayA7. At Hardwicke Circus Roundabout take the 1st exit onto Castle WayA595 continuing on this road (pass over 3 roundabouts). At the fourth roundabout take the 2nd exit onto A66 and at the next roundabout take the third exit onto A5086 follow this road for some time then turn left towards Kirkland Road continue onto Kirkland Road then take two rights near The Fox and Hounds Inn take your first left then take a right and a left then follow round to the right towards A595. At the junction turn left then take the first right at B5344. Bailey Ground Hotel is located on the left.From the South: Head North on the M6 at junction 36 exit onto A590 towards BarrowKendalA591. Take the A590A6 exit towards BarrowMilnthorpe. At Brettargh Holt Roundabout take the 1st exit onto A590 and at the next roundabout take the 2nd exit staying on the A590 (going through another roundabout). Turn right at A5092 then continue onto A595. Turn right onto Smithy Lane then continue onto Sella Brow not far after the Ulpha Post Office take a left then another left towards Austwaite Brow slight left continuing on Austwaite Brow. Follow the road round to the right at the junction turn left towards A595 at the next junction take aright onto the A595 then take the 2nd left onto the B5344. The hotel is located approximately 3 miles down this road on the left hand side.
