Marion Lodge is a delightful and luxurious fully modernized country house located in the tranquil Eden Valley only a stone's throw from the Lake District with stunning views stylish dining room modern bedrooms and bathrooms tranquil grounds and terraces with fantastic views of Lake District. Dinner is available from £20 to £40pp ask about fine dinning packages and short breaks.It is conveniently located in the tranquil Eden Valley a mile north of the village of Little Salkeld it is within a couple of minutes walk of Long Meg and Her Daughters' standing stone circle and on the edge of the English Lake District with a huge range of tourist and leisure opportunities making it perfect for guests looking wishing to walk climb explore the wider Lake District or just relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery. There are bridleways and paths from the cottage through the surrounding countryside to the river. A circular walk follows the river back to little Salkeld where there is a cafĂ©. Fishing and horse riding are available by arrangement and the coast-to-coast cycle way passes the end of our lane Penrith has an excellent golf course.Little Salkeld is 6 miles north east of the market town of Penrith (which has all the usual amenities) and five to ten minutes drive from Langwathby Lazonby and Kirkoswald all of which have village shops and country pubs.The Northern Lakes are all within 20 minutes offering a host of attractions without actually having to be caught up in the tourist trap' areas.Ullswater offers sailing and windsurfing pleasure steamers are a peaceful and effortless way to view the mountain scenery perhaps with a lunch stop at Glenridding or Howtown. Keswick has a large range of shops and attractions to suit every taste.The famous mountain ranges of Helvellyn Skidaw Blencathra and Highstreet offer walking rambling and climbing at all levels for those that which to test their nerve and fitness. For the less energetic there a stately homes and garden the Solway coast is near or why not explore Hadrians Wall and the Scottish border country?If it rains there are plenty of indoor facilities so there is no need to worry about bored kids'. Kendal Ambleside Windermere and the south lakes are all less than an hour's steady drive.

From M6 junction 40 (PenrithNorth Lakes) follow A686 east to Langwathby (6 minutes).Cross river Eden uphill turn left through village green (at war memorial) and leave the village (post office on right) to Little Salkeld (2 minutes). Follow the road through Little Salkeld north toward Glassonby going uphill and following the signs to Druids Circle and Long Meg' after mile at the crossroads on the brow of the hill turn Left (Marion Lodge is now the white house across fields on your right) follow the lane bearing right and then turning right into our drive just before the cattle grid (2 minutes).
