The Roast Ox is a traditional country public house but with the added attraction of a restaurant seating 60 persons 9 fully en-suite letting rooms. We are situated in the sleepy country village of Painscastle close to the Brecon Beacons National Park and river Wye and within half hour drive of Hereford Builth Wells Brecon and Hay on Wye Recently completely renovated and refurbished following a disastrous fire some years ago the Inn is steeped in history and is known to have been in existence for at least 500 years.Recent winner of CAMRA regional Cider pub of the year. Situated in the heart of some of Mid Wales most beatiful countryisde and ideal base for a relaxing retreat or an outdoor activity break acitivites avaialbe locally include walking fishing moutain biking canoeing climbing caving golf the list is endless.

Hotel directions :
From Hereford follow A438 towards Brecon approx 20 miles from Hereford take the right turn signposted Painscasle. Follow signage to Painscastle. Roast Ox Inn is in the centre of the village.From Brecon follow A470 towards Hereford. This will lead you onto the A438 you will pass through the village of Three Cocks and turn left over bridge in Glasebury continue towards Hereford. You will reach crossroads with Hay on Wye to the right and Painscastle to the left turn left and follow signs for Painscastle the Roast Ox Inn is in the centre of the villageFrom Builth Wells follow A470 South towards Brecon. Just before village of Erwood turn left over bridge over the river Wye signposted to Painscastle. Then follow signs for Painscastle the Roast Ox Inn is in the centre of the village
